Water Tender water softeners, iron handlers, nitrate removal units, carbon filters and sediment filters are pre-loaded with water treatment media. Acid Neutralizers have a dome hole and must be filled up by the dealer with calcite or a mix of calcite and magnesium oxide.

C-800 Softening Resin

C-800 is a high capacity, high quality, gel-type cation resin capable of meeting the most exacting requirements of household, farm, commercial, institutional and industrial water softeners. It is supplied in the sodium form as dark amber colored translucent beads and has a capacity of 30,000 grains of compensated hardness removal per cubic foot with 15 pounds of salt per generation. These strong and durable beads insure long service life.

C-800F Fine Mesh Resin

C-800F is a high quality, gel-type, high capacity fine mesh cation resin for use in most domestic and industrial water softening applications. Aldex C-800F resin has far more surface area per square foot than typical water softening resin. The result is faster kinetics, increased removal of ferrous iron and more ion exchange capacity per regeneration, using similar amounts of salt.

A-520E Anion Resin

A-520E is a macroporous strong base anion resin which is specially designed for the removal of nitrates from water for potable processes. The macroporous matrix and special ion exchange group functionality imparts ideal nitrate selectivity to A-520E making this resin particularly suitable for nitrate removal even when moderate to high concentrations of sulphate are present. Hence this resin gives superior performance in nitrate removal applications when compared with standard exchange resins.

CS-1240 Coconut Shell Activated Carbon

CS-1240 is designed specifically for high-efficiency water purification. It is manufactured from coconut shells by high-temperature steam activation under rigidly controlled conditions. The physical characteristics of CS-1240, including its high microporosity, superior hardness and low dust make it an ideal choice for point-of-use and point-of-entry filtration applications, as well as industrial applications with stringent water purity requirements. The carbon is especially effective for adsorbing trace organic compounds such as THMs and pesticides, chlorine and disinfection by-products.

Hyper-filtration Media

Hyper-filtration media incorporates straining as well as ion exchange, sedimentation and flocculation to product crystal clear water down to <0.1 ntu of turbidity. The loading capacity of this media is up to 1.5 times greater than multi-media and up to 2.8 times greater than sand filters. This results in longer run times with less frequent backwashing, resulting in significant water savings.

Calcite

Calcite is a crushed and carefully screened white calcium carbonate, marble looking material that is used to increase the alkalinity, thereby increasing the pH of the water supply. Increasing the pH will eliminate the corrosiveness of the water supply. Calcite dissolves into the water to increase the pH, but as a result also increases the hardness of the water. Because Calcite is sacrificial due to its dissolving nature, it must be added periodically. Since the Calcite filter increases hardness, a water softener is recommended.

Depending on the application, medium, fine, or extra fine calcite may be used.

NS Mix

NS Mix is a blend of 80% calcite and 20% magnesium oxide for use in applications where the pH level is between 5.5 and 5.9. This media will diminish in volume over time as it raises the pH of the water supply and must be replenished every 3 to 6 months. A water softener should be installed after an acid neutralizer using this type of media in order to remove the added hardness.

See: Acid Neutralizers

Neu-Cor

Neu-Cor is a blend of 70% calcite and 30% magnesium oxide for use in applications where the pH level is between 5.0 and 5.8. This media will diminish in volume over time as it raises the pH of the water supply and must be replenished every 3 to 6 months. A water softener should be installed after an acid neutralizer using this type of media in order to remove the added hardness.

NS Mix Extra Strength

NS Mix Extra Strength is a blend of 60% calcite and 40% magnesium oxide for use in applications where the pH level is between 5.0 and 5.8. This media will diminish in volume over time as it raises the pH of the water supply and must be replenished every 3 to 6 months. A water softener should be installed after an acid neutralizer using this type of media in order to remove the added hardness.

PH++

PH++ is a crushed and carefully screened magnesium that is used to increase the alkalinity, thereby increasing the pH of the water supply. Increasing the pH will eliminate the corrosiveness of the water supply. PH++ is a much stronger pH corrector than NS-Mix, Neu-Cor or Calcite and should only be used if these media have failed to correct the pH. This media will diminish in volume over time as it raises the pH of the water supply and must be replenished every 3 to 6 months. A water softener should be installed after an acid neutralizer using this type of media in order to remove the added hardness.

Magnesium Oxide (Corosex)

Corosex is a granular filter media designed for point of use neutralization and is always blended with calcite to reduce the risk of cementing. This media, combined with calcite, will diminish in volume over time as it raises the pH of the water supply and must be replenished every 3 to 6 months. A water softener should be installed after an acid neutralizer using a blend of magnesium oxide and calcite in order to remove the added hardness.
